Thanks for returning policies!
"Thank you" to those of you who have turned policies into the box. All policies will be filed in your file.
If you have not turned them in, please take a minute to sign them now, and turn them into the "Assignments" bin. Students who do not sign the policies will not be allowed to use a computer, or to attend the Night Lab until policies are returned.
Just a few reminders:
1. The hours for the Business Lab are very generous--PLEASE do not exceed the hours posted for the Lab and/or Night Lab. Our hours are 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Business Lab; and 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Night Lab on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
2. Please clock out when you leave campus for any reason. Also, please do not clock your friends or family in or out! ALL students should be honest and follow the time clock procedures.
3. Please limit breaks to ten minutes, and lunch to thirty minutes--at the MOST!!! Stuents who loiter in the break room, or in the hallway will be asked to clock out.
4. Water with a lid is the only food or drink allowed in the Adult Lab.

"What happens when I leave campus???"

Adult students are welcome to come and go at their leisure. There are no rules about when breaks can be taken; HOWEVER...(and you knew there would be a "however") each time students leave campus, they are to check out using the time clock.

Some students are writing down their time--but not checking out and back in on the time clock--please take a minute and check out properly. Some students are leaving campus and never checking out. Please be honest and follow the rules. If it becomes a habit, Sponsors will be notified!! Also, know that adjustments are being made to your time if you leave campus without clocking out properly.
The Adult Lab has a lot of students coming and going--and adjusting time takes a few more minutes with every person.
Remember that when you go to work--there won't be anyone there to adjust your time! Get used to using a time clock NOW!!!!!

Dress for Success changing days....
Welcome Back Everyone!!!!!
Beginning after Labor Day, the Adult Business Lab will host "Dress for Success" on Thursdays. Students who dress up in professional dress on that day can put their name in the box for a drawing during a Student Social.
It is important for all students to practice "dressing for success" so that their wardrobes are ready for the workplace when they are!!!!
Everyone is welcome/encouraged to participate!

I have just become aware of a problem with the UTIPS site--even though you type your name in, the name is not appearing in Leslie's email. So the scores come in as "no name."
Until further notice, print out your UTIPS score, and write your name on the paper. Then turn it into the Assignments bin. Hopefully this will be cleared up soon!

The carpet is amazing!
The Lab has been deep cleaned, and will be ready for occupancy by the end of the week!
In order to keep the Lab clean and looking nice, we would like to adhere to the following policies:
1) Water is the only drink allowed in the Lab. Water bottles must have a lid
2) Soda, sports drinks, and coffee may be consumed in the halls, or in the area next to the Culinary Arts classroom
3) No food in the Lab. Please use the area located next to the Culinary Arts classroom

Anyway--new carpet is going to be installed in Room B-06 beginning June 1.
The Adult Lab will be meeting across the hall, in Room B-17. Student lockers, mailboxes, tests, and outlines will be available for all students.
Computers with all software, ten keys and cassette players will be available, as well.
We will try to accommodate all students and make this as smooth of a transition as possible. Please bear with us!

GRADUATION TIME IS HERE!!!!

All of the hard work is paying off!!!!
If you are planning to "walk" through UBATC Graduation Exercises on Tuesday, May 25, 2010, please sign the sheet by the time clock. Then check with Leslie to make sure you have all of the competency hours you will need.
In order to "walk" you need to adhere to the following guidelines:
As of May 1, 2010, a part-time student should not have more than 150 competency hours left to complete
As of May 1, 2010, a full-time student should not have more than 250 competency hours left to complete.
Please check with Leslie immediately to see if you are eligible to graduate this year!
Graduation Exercises will be at the Roosevelt Junior High School at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2010. All students will receive announcements in the coming weeks.

New Workplace Relations Class to Begin...

Workplace Relations is a mandatory class to be taken by all program students. The course is designed as a lecture class, and meets multiple times.
The UBATC has hired Therena Morrill to teach the Workplace Relations class at the Roosevelt campus. She will teach the class on Fridays from 9:00 am. to 12:00 noon. Therena's office will be located in the Assessment Center.
Those students currently enrolled in Workplace Relations with Jeanie Tolbert will complete the course with Jeanie.

No More Internet Radio--So Sorry!!!

Because of the huge load on the server and network of the UBATC, the IT Department has asked that students and employees no longer listen to the radio on the Internet, or play online games.

With the start of a new semester, Leslie's secondary students will again come into the Lab on "A" Days. The six computers in front of Leslie's desk will be reserved for secondary students on the day they attend. A Green sign will designate if the computers are available for adult students.
